Alaïa Nell's interview

You know that eco-responsible fashion is important to us, so when we have the opportunity to combine fashion, art, and the environment, we don't hesitate.
Talented and stylish, with a unique universe inspired by the oceans, we fell in love with the work from Alaïa , we couldn't miss a collaboration!
The goal: to create a unique design that will be produced in maxi silk scarves and magnificent posters.
But that's not all, being driven by the common desire to preserve nature, we have taken the decision to donate part of the profits to Project Rescue Ocean , an association that organizes waste collections in France and around the world (since 2015 already more than 500 tons of waste collected)!
Alaïa: The Interview
Alaïa, introduce yourself in a few words...
"Hello, I'm Alaïa, a 35-year-old painter from Toulouse with a colorful, ocean-inspired world. I've been an artist for three years; I haven't always done this because I used to be an aeronautical engineer."
How did you transition from your life as an aeronautical engineer to that of an artist?
"I had a first job that didn't really excite me, and it was when I took up drawing again that I realized I really had a strong need for creativity. I started as an autodidact, I laid the first stones and little by little, it became my profession 100%."
What do you like about Kza?
“Carine from Kza contacted me to offer me the opportunity to co-create this scarf, and I immediately loved the idea! Kza is a brand that is very feminine, colorful, positive, and whose values match mine completely because most of the products are made in France in eco-responsible conditions, and the fact that part of the profits are donated to Project Rescue Ocean speaks to me a lot and gives meaning to this project.”
What interests you about the oceans? Why is it at the heart of your art?
“For the Oceans, it’s something very instinctive, almost primal, which was really reinforced during my first trip in 2015, where I had the chance to live in New Caledonia, to start scuba diving, to discover the richness of the seabed, and that feeling of security that you feel when you are weightless underwater.
I also fulfilled a childhood dream by starting surfing in the Philippines and there, too, I felt an immense, almost indescribable sense of freedom.
Since then, I have never stopped, so it has only strengthened my love for the Oceans. Unfortunately, I have also been able to see the harmful effects of humans on the oceans, especially in Indonesia with all the beaches littered with waste, which ends up in the Oceans. Hence the importance of associations like Project Rescue Ocean who will come to raise public awareness and also clean the beaches.
Explain to us the design of this illustration…
"A very colorful design to remind us that it is a life to be preserved above all and it is a beauty to be preserved above all and at the heart of the scarf, there is a shell with a pearl to remind us that in the oceans, there would be no living things on earth and that it is truly like a jewel to be protected and cherished!"
